Faculty members who receive this award are nominated by their departments in recognition of their outstanding, but often unnoticed or unrecognized, contributions to Emory and beyond. "Dr. Leslie Lawley is a quiet leader within the Department of Dermatology, Emory School of Medicine, and nationally with involvement in the Society for Pediatric Dermatology (SPD) and the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA). She is the Chief of Pediatric Dermatology and directs the Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship Program at Emory. She has tirelessly advocated for the children that are served by Pediatric Dermatology. Dr. Lawley serves on the Emory SOM FCAP and uses this position and expertise to advise her colleagues within the Department on optimal strategies for academic promotion. She is a leader at the national level, serving as the Treasurer of PeDRA and the Nominations Committee of the SPD since 2017." Around this time of the year, our residents usually host their annual Phonathon - calls made to alumni and friends of Dermatology to reconnect and ask for their continued support of our residency training program. Considering all that has gone on in 2020, our residents wanted to reach out to simply thank all for their generosity in recent years and to express their gratitude over the phone. Last weekend, the first Annual Thankathon was held - a small group of residents ga...thered in a socially distance manner to make these calls. We want to thank you all for your continued generosity. Monies raised over the years have gone to support resident research, global health endeavors, national preceptorships, provision of textbooks and other learning supplies and more. Your generosity has positively influenced countless graduates over the last 10+ years. We cannot thank you enough.

It is Medical Assistants Recognition Week! We all want to thank our MAs and let them know how much we appreciate all they do for our patients and physicians within the Dermatology Clinic - THANK YOU!!

Congratulations to Kiesha Wiggins, Medical Assistant in Dermatology, who received the 2020 Service Hero Reward! The Patient Experience Team asked leaders across the Physician Group Practice to nominate team members from their sections who go above and beyond every day for their patients and co-workers. We chose Kiesha because she is hard-working, reliable, and committed to making sure our patients have the best experience here at Dermatology.

Ron Feldman, MD, PhD, recently received a R01 Award from NIH/National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases for his project entitled: "Improving Clinical Trial Recruitment and Outcome Measures in Bullous Pemphigoid." Congratulations Dr. Feldman!

Bessie Coffen, Medical Secretary for the Dermatology Clinic is celebrating a major milestone today - 30th Years of Service with Emory Healthcare/Emory University! For the past 22 years, Bessie has been caring for and serving the patients, providers, and staff of the Dermatology Clinic. Bessie is always willing to lend a hand, offer a kind word or brighten the room with a huge smile. We are very fortunate to have Bessie as a member of our team.... Congratulations to Emory Dermatology Alumni, Brian Raphael, for being inducted into Central New York's 40 Under Forty Class of 2020! The "40 under Forty Award" recognizes 40 people under the age of 40 who have excelled in the workplace and in the community. Dr. Raphael currently practices at Empire Dermatology which he founded in 2016 in East Syracuse, NY.
