I once heard someone say, Mexicans are the new Black people. I almost had a severe case of whiplash resulting from how quickly I turned my head to see who would say such foolishness aloud. Repost from @dethra.giles Today is #WorldSuicidePreventionDay. This is something that means a lot to me and I want to make sure that we all work together to see a decline in the amount of suicides that are attempted and completed versus the rise in what we're seeing now. ... Friends, as a reminder: don't compare where you are in life to someone's highlight reel on social media. Everyone struggles--you are not alone if this is you. Get the help that you need and remember that your life matters. You are worthy of being here.

I dislike the terms microaggression, macroaggression, unconscious bias, and the whole lot of words we have used to explain negative actions towards a person from another person. I use these words because they are common nomenclature, I understand what people mean when they say them and I don't like them. These words are confusing to the masses and they are an attempt to do what has historically been done and has to be acknowledged as violence. They are a way to make perpetrators feel comfortable at the expense of the violated. So, instead of saying "that was hateful" we say that was a microaggression. I don't want to split hairs with you on if you stabbed me a little or a lot, I want to discuss the fact that I should not be stabbed.
