An off post prescribed burn in Alabama, west of the Installation, is sending smoke across all of the cantonment areas on Fort Benning. The smoke / haze will be present across the cantonment areas until the winds can carry the smoke out of the area. If the smoke persists through the night, low lying areas along streams and rivers could see more dense smoke during the night and early tomorrow morning. *STOCK PHOTO*

COMMUNITY ALERT! An emergency road repair needs to be made on Buena Vista Road near the entrance to DMPRC at the intersection of 2nd Armored Division Road, Lorraine Road, and Buena Vista due to a culvert failure and subsequent sinkhole under the road. DPW Engineering is aware and working towards a solution. Temporary signage, barricades, and other traffic control devices will be provided and utilized during the closure to ensure the safety of all. The detour will be less than one mile, however it will be on a gravel road.
