Today is the first day of National School Counseling Week. Our focus for this week is perseverance, which is when you continue to work towards achieving somethi...ng despite obstacles, failure and opposition. And one way to persevere is to collaborate, or work cooperatively with others. Our school counselor, Mrs. Duncan perseveres each day for our students. Congratulations to Ms. Melanie Westbrook, teacher at Franklin County Middle School and her students! Ms. Westbrook's 7th grade ELA class is thankful for the generous donation from Sonic Drive-In. Sonic Drive-In fully funded a DonorChoose project to provide flexible seating for Mrs. Westbrook's students. She is a recipient of $415 as part of a 1.3 million dollar grant that is assisting several teachers throughout the country with DonorsChoose projects. Mrs. Westbrook is excited to continue to promote avid readers, engaging writers and deep thinkers within the comfort of flexible seating options.

Good Afternoon Franklin County Family, Our weekly COVID-19 Update is below. I also would like to address a piece of gossip and speculation that I have heard over the past week, i.e. the closure of a school and / or the district. After speaking with numerous people and looking at the aforementioned data, I believe we can safely have school for the remainder of the week. However, as I have always said, if you do not feel that it is safe for your child to attend school, simpl...y contact the appropriate principal and we can make alternate arrangements. Just as I want to provide you an option to send your child to school, I also want to accommodate parents who are worried about doing so. All that I ask is that we all respect the choices of one another. There is no right decision, we all must simply do what we feel is best for our own child. I also want to thank everyone for their well wishes after I tested positive for COVID-19 last week. As much as I enjoyed being locked down with my entire family for ten days, I was very ready to return to work. Thank you again for your support of FCSS and all that you are doing to keep our students safe. I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and look forward to all of the great things 2021 has in store. Stay Safe and God Bless, Chris
