Hello Everyone! As you know, our governor will be issuing a shelter-in-place order tomorrow with Friday being the likely effective date. Once the order is pub...lished, we will be able to give you some direction as to how closings will be conducted during the shelter-in-place period. My guess is that we will be considered an essential service, so somehow, some way, closings will continue. However, we just don't know the exact format as of yet. No matter what, we will work diligently to get you close with the main goal to keep everyone safe! See more

Happy closing day! It was an honor to get to help a long time friend and hubby buy their new home but sad that it was under such precautions. Either way it is done. Welcome Home Lindsey Family!! Thanks to Rob Fricks and his crew for making things as safe as possible.

We are grateful that the real property law section leadership of Georgia was able to work with the state bar and pass an emergency memorandum allowing attorneys... to videoconference with parties during a real estate closing. However, this is only HALF of the solution. Currently there is still no emergency order from the governor which would temporarily allow closing attorneys to notarize and witness documents that are signed during a videoconference. As it now stands, the only legal way to complete a remote closing is for the attorney to be on videoconference with the parties the entire time they are signing AND the signing party must be signing in the presence of a notary and a disinterested witness (who are both physically present where the signer is located). We will update you if the governor signs the emergency remote notary/witness procedures. For now, then, unless the signing party can sign in the presence of a notary and witness, our office will not legally be able to conduct remote closings. We will continue to allow parties to sign outside, under protective cover, at least six feet from any members of our staff or the other party, for the protection of our customers. We hope everyone remains safe during these trying times. God bless you all.

We, along with a number of real estate attorneys, requested that we be permitted to close transactions by video conference. The Supreme Court has entered an order permitting us to do closings by video conference on a temporary basis. Thank you to all lawyers who requested this on behalf of the safety of the public, our clients, lenders, realtors and parties!!!!... STAY SAFE!!!
