For this week's mobility Monday, we are highlighting General Motors and their progress with electric vehicles. GM is examining new manufacturing processes, technologies, and materials in order to lower the cost of electric vehicle batteries and their reliance on price-sensitive materials. GM is working to cut the cost of its battery cells to under $100 per kilowatt-hour and increase the driving range of future EV batteries from 480 to 580 miles (833km) between charges so tha...t batteries last for a million miles or more. For this week's Team Member Tuesday we are highlighting Gerardo Garcia-Ramos. Gerardo is a third-year Mechanical Engineering major from El Salvador. He has been a part of the PSI sub-team for the past 2 years. Gerardo was interested in getting involved with the automotive industry which led him to join the team where he has had the opportunity to learn how to weld and learn 3 axis milling with gcode. Thanks to all of his hands-on experience and great team members Gerardo, much like the rest of us, can’t wait until we get Popy up and running smoothly. For this week's Team Member Tuesday we are welcoming another new member to the PSI sub-team. Connor Henderson is a fifth-year Mechanical Engineering major from Sugar Hill, GA. Connor found EcoCAR interesting as it presents the ability/opportunity to convert a regular car to a more eco-friendly version of itself which is fascinating. For this week's Team Member Tuesday we are highlighting our very own project manager, Brianna Thornton! Brianna is a third-year Chemical Engineering Grad student from Birmingham, Alabama. Brianna has been apart of our team going on three years. now. Her favorite part about EcoCAR is the opportunity to see team members grow in knowledge and skills throughout their time on the team.
