We're pleased to have the gift shop from Carrollton's Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum participating in our Holiday Outdoor Artist Market, 11am-5pm this Saturday (Nov. 7). The Quilt and Textile Museum's booth will show a nice variety of gift-worthy items, some shown here -- quilts, wine bottle gift bags, tote bags and coin purses, jewelry, holiday ornaments, cards, table runners and original artwork. Make a day of it during peak leaf season in Summerville and around Northwest Georgia and do some gift shopping while visiting Howard Finster's 2.5-acre folk art Garden. Our Holiday Outdoor Artist Market is being organized to achieve social distancing (masks required). Paradise Garden's gift shop will be stocked up, too. Regular Garden admission applies. #paradisegarden #holidaymarket #gifts #fallleaves #howardfinsterpainter

The leaf-peeping forecast looks promising for this coming weekend, when Paradise Garden will host our Holiday Outdoor Artist Market, Saturday (Nov. 7) from 11am-5pm. This was the view this past weekend from Taylor Ridge, the most northwestern ridge in the state of Georgia, as you approach Summerville from the south on US 27. High winds from the storms late last week knocked down some of the early changing leaves, but there are more colors clearly on the way. The Outdoor Holi...day Artist market will feature 11 artists showing folk and fine art paintings, ceramics, fiber art, stained glass, blacksmithing, handmade soaps and more. Make a leaf-peaping day of it around Chattooga County, which boasts two beautiful state parks, and do some early gift shopping while visiting Howard Finster's 2.5-acre folk art Garden. Our Holiday Outdoor Artist Market is being organized to achieve social distancing (masks required). Paradise Garden's gift shop will be stocked up, too. Regular Garden admission applies. #paradisegarden #holidaymarket #gifts #fallleaves #howardfinster See more

The World’s Folk Art Church at Paradise Garden at sunset on Halloween night 2020. We hosted an afternoon-into-evening wedding, and the wedding-cake-shaped church that the Rev. Howard Finster built made a beautiful backdrop for this blessed event (see 2 photos below in Comments). We’ve been readying lights throughout the Garden ahead of the holidays, and our Garden Executive Director Tina Cox caught the church’s glow at just the right moment. (Call Cameron Cook of our staff on a weekday if you’d like to plan a private event at the Garden: 706.808.0800.) #howardfinster #paradisegarden #summervillega

The best part of waking up at one of Paradise Garden’s three AirBnBs? For recent guest David Jones, it’s hanngin’ with Hobbes, followed closely by a cup of joe. Closely! If you’re looking for a quick getaway during this time, the Garden’s AirBnbs are great safe havens this fall and around the holidays. Links to all three are below in Comments. Reserve now for best availability. #paradisegarden #catsofinstagram #howardfinster #spiritanimals #airbnb #summervillega

Howard Finster's Paradise Garden is pleased to be included in a new book, "Georgia Discovered: Exploring the Best of the Peach State," by photographer Chris Greer. In this story from Flagpole in Athens, Greer also mentions Cloudland Canyon State Park as great for leaf watching. Can't think of a better way to spend a fall day than in either of Chattooga County's state parks (the other is James H. 'Sloppy" Floyd State Park) and Howard's 2.5-acre folk art Garden. #howardfinster #paradisegarden #fallleaves #leafwatching #cloudlandcanyon #summervillega

Howard Finster's Paradise Garden 10.08.2020

An artist of boundless energy, the Rev. Howard Finster created 46,991 numbered works (not counting unnumbered early originals, print multiples and millions of album cover copies) before he left us in 2001. One of his earliest, largest and most autobiographical is the highlight of the Slotin Folk Art Auction coming up on Nov. 14. Here's the press release from the auction house... ... An early Howard Finster painting believed to be his largest, yet one of the least well-known o...Continue reading
