Jackson County will be participating in the statewide severe weather drill tomorrow. If you hear the sirens, that is why.
Over the past few weeks, we have been doing some maintenance on some of the weather sirens in the county. We repaired the weather siren in Trotters Ridge. We repaired and relocated the siren that was on Ednaville Road in Braselton. That siren is now on the water tower on New Liberty Church Road. We also placed a siren on the water tower in Maysville. We would like to thank the South Jackson Fire Department for assisting us with their ladder truck in Trotters Ridge. We would like to thank Jackson EMC for helping us relocate the Braselton siren. Last, we would like to thank the City of Maysville for letting us put a siren on their water tower.
We are asking all citizens to be careful and stay off the roads until 10 am this morning unless your travel is essential. Multiple trees are down all around the county and being cleared.
12 pm update on now Hurricane Zeta https://youtu.be/_w8ST4FX1kk
If you heard the weather siren going off in Maysville today, it was a test. We put up a siren on the Maysville water tower. At this time, there is no weather emergency.
