Coach Duggan is Getting a Liver! As many of you know, Dr. Billy Duggan has battled health issues most of this school year. Yesterday, the Emory University Transplant Committee approved Dr. Duggan for a liver transplant. Coach Duggan has quickly become a well-loved figure around John Hancock Academy since joining the staff last year. Dr. Duggan left his position as Head of School at Hillcrest Baptist School in Augusta to teach and Coach at JHA. He coaches basketball and base...ball; he also teaches Bible classes and small group support classes. Coach Duggan’s wife, Debra Duggan, a retired Columbia County teacher, also teaches at JHA. Mrs. Duggan is our 4th grade elementary teacher. The Duggans have a combined 70+ years in education. Dr. Duggan also pastors Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Billy and Debra have two adult children, twins Jon and Christal. The Duggans know God has been working miraculously on their behalf. They believe that the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availed much and ask you to lift them up in prayer as they wait for a donor match and prepare for surgery.

Before the 75 care packages were delivered to the Salvation Army homeless shelter this afternoon, our JHA elementary students prayed for the recipients of each bag.

JHA Auction May 1st @ JHA. The auction will be held in the gymnasium this year. Doors will open for dinner and viewing at 5:30 with the live auction starting at 6:30. We are currently running a 50/50 raffle that will be drawn at the auction. You can purchase $5 tickets from any JHA parent , Webster’s Pharmacy or the school office.

Today’s track meet at Gatewood has been canceled due to threatening weather.

A HUGE shout out to all the students, parents, and community members who donated to the Give Change to Make a Change campaign. We raised a whopping $615 to make care packages for homeless shelters in Middle Georgia. The elementary will be doing the work of filling the bags next week. Bonus - elementary students practiced their money skills using real money.
