We are pleased to have a new offering beginning the first week of May; a mid-day adult social paddle for our recreational membership! We are planning these for Monday's and Thursday's, from 10am - noon. This way the group will be off the water before it gets too hot, and all or some can go to lunch together should they choose to! Plus it fits for the time our training groups are on the water so there should be minimal overlap on the docks, if any, as those sessions end at 11...:00. Perfect for the work-at-home parents looking for a short escape, those retired and active, and anyone wanting to chill out and meet / socialize in person on the water. Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club, the Lake Lanier Olympic Park and the City of Gainesville are proud to host the American Canoe Association Marathon National Championships and Team USA Marathon Trials, May 8-9. Also included is the SEPSeries race which will follow Saturday's marathon competition. Saturday March 6th from 9 - 1, LCKC is having a Yard Sale! Used, abandoned, not used anymore, boats that need some love and have been well loved over the years. Many need hardware though hulls in good shape. Sprint kayaks K1, K2 and even two K4's for sale along with a few recreational, sea and touring kayaks, delta sprint and a river canoe, and pedal boats. Prices from $50 - $3000. This is a great opportunity to find a good hull and put some creativity into making your own boat in many cases. People are signing up for the 23rd edition of this chilly New Years Day tradition set for Friday, January 1st, 2021! Event will take place at the Lake Lanier Olympic Park Beach as a part of Winter Beach Bash. We will RUN AWAY from 2020 and into the cool waters of Lake Lanier at the beach! ... The Polar Bear Swim also has a CrossFit Relay Challenge...three people from your gym (or simply friends, classmates, etc) will run into the water, swim a lap of the swim area then run out to tag their team mate. Each participant will wear a PFD...and will wear two cotton gym pants! Awards for best costume, youngest, oldest, and the largest family group! Special awards for those who swim a lap! Food trucks will be on hand in the park with warm meals! Fire pit, games and a marshmallow snow-man building contest!
