Did you know that tonight is a "blue moon?" This means it's the second full moon of the month, a phenomenon that only occurs about once every 2.5 years! And of course, it's extra special that it's happening on Halloween! In fact, a Halloween full moon visible for most time zones hasn't happened since 1944! According to one astrologer, "blue and full moons are amazing opportunities to release and heal." Click the link below to read more about the astrological significance of the blue moon! https://www.refinery29.com//full-blue-moon-in-taurus-octob

Today is a special day because Yolenda chose to visit us! Yolenda is on a bit of a road trip and visited Asheville, Blue Ridge Parkway, (because of mask, I tackily thought she said Buford Highway in ATL, bad Jane), Charleston, Savannah and Athens! She is such a kind, appreciative soul that told us how good our "energy was" and that we had kind hearts. Yolenda shared her love of horses with us and said that when she rode she felt like she was in the "palm of God's hand b...eing carried protectively and lovingly along." So sweet! As she left she said, "you have so much love, let your light shine!" which could sound super corny coming from someone else, but we lapped up like puppy dogs on a hot summer day. THIS is why we come love coming to work everyday! To meet the Yolenda's, the Carson's ( a little girl that visited and filled our wood carved boxes with Werthers), the Breast Cancer Warrior this week who had just been diagnosed and the very next day was finding gifts of love and support to help her children during her Cancer Journey. Thank you and remember, during these crazy times - We love you and we are not afraid to show it or share it! ~Jane

A beautiful honey-colored stone, amber is composed of fossilized tree resin that is millions of years old. In fact, the oldest amber ever found dates back to 320 million years ago! Read on to learn some fascinating facts about this wonderful gem! * Pieces of amber torn from the seafloor are cast up by the waves and collected by hand, dredging, or diving. Elsewhere amber is mined, either in open works or underground mines. * Amber has been used in jewelry for 13,000 years,... since the Stone Age! * It has long been used around the world for medicinal purposes, everywhere from Ancient Greece to China. * The coloring of a piece of amber indicates its relative age - deep brown amber is older than amber with a light yellow hue. * Amber is thought to alleviate depression and aid in pain relief, as well as building confidence, patience, and wisdom! About two weeks ago, the block of College Avenue between Clayton St. and Broad St. was blocked off to create a pedestrian mall & dining area. The closure is the launch of a 6-month pilot project and will remain permanent if the project goes well. We would love to hear your feedback about this!! Do you like the idea of a dining/pedestrian space in this location? Do you find the cement planters to be unsightly? Could this change cause a disruption in traffic flow/confusion for drivers? Any questions or comments would be much appreciated! We want people who come downtown (whether they’re local or visiting) to have the best experience possible! https://www.onlineathens.com//another-outdoor-dining-optio

If you ever checked out with our staff member Katie, you know you met someone really special. Katie (right) studies Music Education at UGA, and she made sure everyone who entered the store felt welcome, comfortable, and left with a smile on their face! We'll certainly miss her dearly as she turns to focus on school, but we are so thankful for her time and dedication here. We wish her the best of luck in finishing her degree and entering the teaching world!!! Our staff members here are known as retail magicians because of all the work we put in to making each person's day. If this sounds like you, come in for an application! We are currently hiring for the holidays with flexible schedules and LOTS of laughs!
