This is one of the best industry reports we have seen in a long while. While they do talk about the whole country, there is a section on the SE. For much of M...etro Atlanta, the majority of new homes are being built at a cost of $80-$95 per SF based on our data (yes, we review a lot of builder budgets) and confirmed by this report from the National Association of Home Builders. The bad news is consumers are paying $125-$140 per SF. These numbers all exclude the land. The gross profit margin is pushing 47% in many cases when it should be more around 20% based on industry reports. The end result is many consumers are overpaying for new construction homes by around 25% and this report just validates what we have been seeing in Metro Atlanta for a few years. This has created a very unhealthy and highly inflated market. Buyer beware because in many cases you are being taken advantage of. See more

I love running numbers. Shown here are the contracts per week for Towns County properties. Not sure what happened 3 or 4 weeks ago, but something obviously broke loose!
