Hotel/Motel Safety: When choosing a hotel/motel for your next vacation or business trip, consider these safety tips. Choose a hotel/motel that is protected by smoke alarms and fire sprinklers. When checking in, be sure to ask what the fire alarm sounds like and review the escape plans in your room. If an alarm sounds, take your key and close all doors behind you. Avoid using elevators and take the stairs. If you have to escape through smoke, lay low and go under the smoke t...o your exit. If all escape routes are blocked return to your hotel room and do the following: Shut off fans and air conditioners Stuff wet towels/bedding in door cracks Call the fire department to tell them your location Wait at a window and signal for help with a flashlight or light-colored cloth Every hotel should have at least one smoke alarm in each guest room, at least one fire sprinkler system in each guest room over 4 stories tall, and are approved for U.S. federal government employees while on official travel. As elves, Aggie and Sammy enjoy whipping up lots of festive treats and warm meals! They spend a lot of time in the kitchen during the holiday season, just like ...so many of us do! Today Aggie and Sammy stopped by the City of Perry Fire & Emergency Services to learn about fire safety in the kitchen from our friendly firemen! Here is what they learned today: 1) Never leave a pot handle on a stove within reach of a child. Always turn pot handles inward! 2) Keep anything that can catch fire - food packaging, towels, or paper products - away from your stovetop. Stay tuned for more exciting and educational adventures of Aggie and Sammy in the City of Perry! #wheregeorgiacomestogether
