It's 6 pm, the doors are locked, But they left them in a cardboard box. Alone through the night, two babies within, No food or warmth to comfort them.... The morning came, the doors unlocked And someone found the tiny box. Brought inside and tended to, rescue on the way, A miracle they made it, to live another day. In foster care they really thrived, with lots of love and care, Saved from all the scary things, lurking everywhere. With Andy and Opie, sweetness abounds. Cutest little gingers, no way you could frown. They romp and wrestle and chase and play, And their purrs...the best, I have to say! They're loving and snuggly and curl in your lap, The perfect place for a much needed nap. The time had come, they must move on, They've only been on loan. From a tiny dark box, filled with fraught, To a loving home of their own! Fosters: Paula P. and Amy D. Poem by Paula P. #adoptdontshop #2arebetterthan1

Puddle has gone to his forever home! Although this family came to look at two other kittens, Puddle charmed them. Despite having no kids in his foster home, within 10 minutes Puddle was playing with this five-year-old boy, even allowing himself to be carried around. We love it when kittens choose their families.... Happy life, Puddle! Foster: Corliss R. #adoptdontshop

Meet Daisy She is the perfect example of just one reason why spaying your female dog is VITAL to their health and safety. Daisy was one of more than a dozen animals our medical team fixed today as part of our partnership with Newton County Animal Control. Sadly, we found out Daisy was in the EARLY stages of pregnancy when her spay was performed. Given her timeline it is very likely that she escaped from her home to find a mate and became lost. Intact animals (animals tha...t have not been altered) still have their hormones and desire to find a mate. Spaying a female dog can keep them closer to home, prevent unwanted litters, and prevent deadly diseases and infections. At our clinic, it costs between $80-$110 to spay a female dog and even less for a male. Visit PEThoodGA.org to book an appointment Better yet, tag a friend that needs to get their pet fixed below . Daisy is being returned to Newton County through our Go Fix Georgia by Planned PEThood program this afternoon, and she has a new family lined up. Now she will get to be someone's spoiled baby instead of searching the streets for a mate. Donations to run this life-saving program are always needed. Consider making a gift of $5 right now to provide a cone for a dog like Daisy. #spayandneuter #gofixgeorgia

Martini came to us with her mom and siblings from Habersham County animal shelter when they were three weeks old. She is well socialized and very playful. She goes wild for the feather chaser and will literally do flips in the air trying to get it. She is a very sweet girl who always seems to be purring. Martini is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and negative for FIV/FeLV. Her adoption fee is $120. If you would like to meet Martini, please contact the foster..., Bridget Adkins, at [email protected]. Ready to adopt? Please complete our on line application here: http://www.pethoodga.org/index.php/cat-adoption-request It will be reviewed and the foster will contact you. https://www.petfinder.com//planned-pethood-of-georgia-ga2/ Photo by Andrea Weir at Weir Media

I usually write a poem, But today my brain is fried. I hugged them and I kissed them, I won't say if I cried.... Flutter has been adopted! And so have Fret and Figit--together! #2arebetterthan1 Beautiful calico Flutter was part of a litter of four we rescued from Hall County. She'll have a stay-at-home purrent plus a kitty and a dog who are thrilled to make her a part of their family. Fret is Flutter's brother, and a couple in Dacula found Figit all by himself. He got his name partially because he has the zoomies all the time. We're happy he and Fret will get to play together in their forever home. Happy lives, kittens! Foster: Paula #adoptdontshop

We prefer to show you BEFORE and AFTER images. Pictures showing when the animals come to us in need of your support and help. We then share AFTER pictures when they are healed and helped thanks to your gifts. This picture is one side of that puzzle. The BEFORE. This is Otter. We look forward to being able to share her AFTER pictures in a few months, but we need your help to get there. We never plan to rescue special medical cases. Our team hears about an animal in need and be...cause of your support and our foster parents we are able to step up for animals like Otter. Otter was rescued a few days ago from the Gwinnett area. This is what we know: - Otter was shaved by someone and had a band-aid on her skin where her skin looks to be cut (this has now created an absess) - She has various injuries and scrapes including a large chunk of nose that is missing/injured - When Otter first came into the county shelter she had breathing issues. After x-rays, she was diagnosed with a serious upper respiratory infection and is on antibiotics - Her ear has a serious hematoma (blood pooling in her ear) that is requiring drainage and possible further veterinary visits Will you help Otter and other animals by providing her with the donations needed to help care for her? If you would rather send a gift through PayPal or our website, visit pethoodga.org/give If you want to send a check by mail, send checks to 2860 Buford Hwy, Duluth, GA 30096 Thank you for your support. Without your help BEFORE and AFTER images would not be possible. *If more money is raised than is needed for Otter's care, the remaining donations will help other rescued animals in need.

Happy Tail update! We adopted Missy out over the summer after a previous adoption that didn't work out. Her original owner couldn't keep her and her sister anymore after going into an assisted-living facility, and while we successfully placed her sister in a multi-pet home, we learned that Missy really wanted to be an only cat. Her wish was granted a few months ago when her new dad took her home. He reports that she's doing really well and has even lost a pound! She's a bit o...f a chunky monkey, so that weight loss is a good thing. We're so happy for this sweet girl. #HappyTails
