Its that time of year! If you are traveling this summer, don't forget to make sure your pets' vaccines are up to date for travel or boarding. In an effort to cut down on our paper usage, we are encouraging our clients to update their email addresses on file so we can send patient reminders electronically. Please let us know if you need your email address updated in your record! Want to have your pets' records on the go in a convenient app? Be on the look out for an invita...tion to join Pet Pro Connect. Invites will be sent out starting this Wednesday the 28th. Along with having your pets profile with you anywhere you are, you will also be able to send messages to our staff during business hours, request refills and request appointments. Follow the link if you would like to download the app now! petproconnect.com/records

A big congratulations to Dr. Brynn Davis-Huggins and her family! They welcomed a healthy baby boy into their lives yesterday. Dr. Davis will be on maternity leave until mid June. In the meantime, we have Dr. Pam Fandrich covering for her part time. Dr. Pam comes from our sister clinic, Southside Hospital for Animals. We may be a little busier than normal due to the reduced doctors hours, please bear with us until Dr. Davis returns and we can get back to normal.

Happy Thursday! We would like to take a minute to do a quick PSA: Please DO NOT drop animals on our doorstep. While we understand you are trying to do the right thing and help, it is getting warmer outside and on our slower days we may not be in and out of our front doors as often. ... A kitty was left on our doorstep today in direct sunlight. By the time another client had come in and alerted us, the cat was very warm and in a bit of distress. This unfortunately only gets worse as the temperature rises in the next several months. This cat was examined by Dr. Davis and sent to animal control to be placed on a stray hold. If you do happen to find a stray dog or cat, we are happy to scan it for a microchip. If no information is available, the animal must go to animal control and be placed on stray hold. If no one claims the pet, it will then go up for adoption. Please be advised: our hospital has video surveillance and we do pull footage when needed.

Will you be my valentine? Our photo booth was a hit last year, so we’ve put it up again! Bring your pet by and feel free to take pictures in front of our backdrop set up in the lobby.

UPDATE The kitten made it and is currently with some other bottle fed fosters. Please do not leave animals on our doorstep. This poor baby was left wrapped in a towel in a box outside our door. When the USPS carrier came by around 1pm she told us about the random box outside. The kitten, by that time, had a temperature of 106.3. When we checked the cameras, the poor baby had been out there for over an hour. The kitten is now in the hands of our capable technicians receiving the best care possible, but the outcome is uncertain. Please, no negative comments. We want people to be aware why this is unacceptable.

We have lots of babies for adoption. Binx (gray) is an adult kitty with some mild special needs- he has to be an indoor kitty. Smudge (black and white) and Potter (orange) are 4 month old brothers who would love to find a home together.

The number one reason we do our jobs...the animals. This is the second reason. We have awesome clients who always know when to brighten our day.

OUR LOBBY IS OPEN AGAIN. We do have a few restrictions so that you and our staff can continue to remain safe. *We are limiting the number of clients in our lobby to 3. *All humans entering the lobby need to wear a mask. Curbside service is still available for those we need/want it. If our lobby is too crowded or you would like curbside service, please call the front desk at 912 756 3999.

We just received confirmation that a fox found in Waterford tested positive for rabies. Please make sure your pets, indoor and outdoor, are current on their vaccination and do not approach any wildlife. Rabies is a viral disease that can infect both you and your pets.

I wanted to personally thank our amazing clients. Our hospital opted early on to try and keep everyone as safe as possible by moving to curbside service. We know that it hurts your heart to see us carry your babies inside and not be with them, especially when they are sick. We know wait times have been a little longer, it's harder to get through on the phone (because the lines are always busy), and scheduling has been difficult. We're so thankful for how understanding y'all have been as we all navigate through these uncharted waters. Y'all have made what could be an extremely stressful situation easier on our whole staff. YOU ROCK. -Amanda

As many of you may know, a tiger at the Bronx Zoo tested positive for COVID 19 this week. The USDA and CDC has released this statement regarding pets. "Anyone with COVID 19 should restrict contact with animals, including pets, out of an abundance of caution-just as they would with other people. Although there have not been reports of pets becoming sick with COVID 19 in the United States, it is still recommended that people sick with COVID 19 limit contact with animals unti...l more information is known about the virus. If a sick person must care for a pet or be around animals, they should wash their hands before and after the interaction." At this time we know a very small number of animals has tested positive for COVID 19, but it is not believed they can transmit it to humans. Please social distance your pets just as you would yourself. This is still not a reason to take your pet to a shelter. Please act responsibly to keep your family, including your fur babies, safe. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available regarding your pets. See more

At Richmond Hill Animal Hospital, we are doing everything we can to keep our staff and clients safe. Unfortunately at this time, we are no longer taking routine appointments. "Routine" refers to things like nailtrims, baths, anal gland expressions and other things not immediately necessary. All routine surgeries such as spays, neuters, cosmetic procedures and routine dental cleanings will also be pushed back. We will also be closed on Saturdays starting next week. If you ha...ve an appointment already scheduled with us at this time, your appointment will remain the same unless we contact you directly. Refills will continue to be curbside- please call in your refill prior to arriving, pay over the phone. When you get here, call and we will bring it outside to you. This will be our plan for the next three weeks and we will provide updates based on the current status of COVID19. We understand this is a huge inconvenience, and we truly have tried to put it off as long as possible. We are hoping to get through this together- not only as a team of veterinary professionals, but also as a community. We hope everyone stays healthy during this time and if you have a veterinary emergency please give us a call.
