Tooth #14 Case History: Severe floridosis throughout the mouth, generalized wear and multiple restorations. Recent crown preparation and placement of a temporary crown. Patient now complaints of consistent pain. Dx: Necrotic pulp/Symptomatic These ghoulish roots were difficult to distinguish in the pre-op radiographic image. A pulp stone blocking the chamber was dislodged. These dilacerated roots were cautiously shaped slowly with hand files, rotary files on a low rpm and frequent recapitulation. Tooth #19 This case demonstrates an old amalgam restoration with recurrent (new) decay. Many patients often believe that it is a simple matter of just removing the decay and placing another filling. Pulp horns or nerve tissue often extends upwards or higher than realized. In this instance, a complaint of painful lingering sensations to cold necessitates removal of the cavity, the old filling, and a root canal to save the tooth.
