As the basketball playoffs start to heat up, you may be all about your favorite player's PTS, FGA (field goals attempted) and REB (rebounds). But are you on top of your LDL and HDL cholesterol numbers? LDL is the "bad" kind, which leads to fat buildup that can increase your risk for heart attacks, strokes and other conditions. HDL is the one you need for a healthy heart, which is found in foods that are high in fiber, such as oatmeal and beans, and unsaturated fats, such as avocado and nuts. #KnowYourStats #MensHealth

Hey man, your favorite athletes have stats - and so do you. BMI (body mass index), BP (blood pressure) and PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) are some of the numbers you need to stay on top of your game. Learn more at wellstar.org/knowyourstats. #MensHealthMonth #KnowYourStats

You may know your favorite baseball player's ERA (earned run average), but what about your own PSA (prostate-specific antigen) level? The American Cancer Society recommends men ask their doctors about prostate cancer screening at age 50. African Americans and men with a father or brother who had prostate cancer before age 65 should talk to their doctor about testing when they're 45. #KnowYourStats #MensHealth

Just like how you check out the stats of your favorite teams, you should also know the numbers that are essential to a healthy life. June is #MensHealthMonth, so all men should #KnowYourStats by visiting your Wellstar primary care provider. Learn more: wellstar.org/knowyourstats.

Wellstar has always been there for our community, caring for everyone in your family from newborns to seniors. During the pandemic, when we needed you the most, you were there. You cheered on your balconies while we changed shifts, you gathered in prayer circles around our hospitals and you made signs welcoming our healthcare heroes on their way to work. During the long hours, you kept us well-fed by bringing food, you donated masks to our teams and have made it a point to wear your own masks to help keep each other safe. All of this has shown us that while we work hard every day to provide #PeopleCare, our people care for us in return. Happy Valentine's Day, and thank you for having us in your heart. #HappyValentinesDay #VitalValentines

In an emergency, we have the expertise to keep your "ticker" ticking, but we'd prefer you take action first with preventative care and live a heart-healthy lifestyle! February is National #HeartMonth, but it's important to take care of your heart year-round by exercising, managing stress and eating healthier foods. Our patients are already our #VitalValentines, so show yourself some love and get your heart checked. http://spr.ly/6187Hg4dR

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Leontyne Holloway, a registered nurse of 50 years, experienced what it was like to be a patient. Though her health was in the hands of strangers, the compassion she received from Wellstar Kennestone Hospital emergency caregivers left a lasting impression. I was frightened beyond measure because I had always taken care of others and now the roles were reversed! The kindness and knowledge exhibited cannot be adequately described. This journey through my coronary artery bypass surgery renews my faith that there are still good people in this world. For Leontyne, her care team at Kennestone are her #VitalValentines. If you have a #VitalValentine care team to call out, please share your messages of thanks in the comments below! #healthcareheroes #PeopleCare

Our clinical team members provide vital care to every patient, every day, and that has never been more evident than throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Every Wellstar clinician from nurses, physician assistants, and hospitalists to doctors, therapists and nurse practitioners has suited up in layers of PPE and taken on the challenge, picking up extra shifts, keeping their masks on for 14-hour days and sacrificing time with their loved ones to take care of their communities. Words cannot express our gratitude. Thank you to our #VitalValentines for being the heart of our work at Wellstar. #PeopleCare
