How to Diagnose Your Car Warning Lights and Save Money! Your car is your baby, until it's not and that usually starts with a warning light on the dash. The most inscrutable light of all; the "check engine" light. Is the car about to blow up, is it a bad 02 sensor or is my gas cap loose? Who knows, same light for everything. For many people, this means a minimum $100 trip to the garage to have them read the codes and see what is wrong. STOP. Quit wasting money. For a little b...it of time and around $100 one time purchase, you can read the codes, figure out if it's a big deal or not and clear the codes out. First go online and do some research on your make and model car and see what scanner other owners have used successfully. Each make and model car has a proprietary computer on board so not all OBDII readers work on all cars. While you are there, do some research and get to know the common problems and how other owners solved them without going to the garage. You will be amazed what you find. Once you have the right model, and we have found that the Blue Driver model works well with most cars and uses your smart phone as the display screen, then all you do is plug it in and follow the directions. https://www.amazon.com/BlueDriver-Bluetooth-Pr//B00652G4TS Some of the fancier makes like Land Rover and Mercedes have special readers so be sure to make sure you have the right one. This will allow you to deep dive into your car's electronics and even get real time engine data while it is running. On the simple level you can wipe out the service light and some will even reprogram replacement keys for you! I just bought my daughter a 16 year old Land Rover and the check engine light came on ominously a week after purchase. I ordered an OBD reader and shazam!, its just a bad seal on the gas cap causing a pressure deviation. Clear it out and keep on driving. How do you know what to do with a particular problem or code? Back to the internet, put in the code and see what the crowd-sourced wisdom is. If it's a big deal, take it to the shop, if not, they usually have a home fix on the message board. Happy Motoring!

Happy 10th to us! So lucky to have this stupendous group of human beings around. Aside from the pop socket guy, businesses are built on good souls and these are the best.

Thanks to all the lawyers who came out for my riveting lecture on liens and third party medical reimbursement. The GOT fans loved it, everyone else could not understand why there was a dragon on a PowerPoint about liens.

Paul and Sheila Bonney were our clients. We took the case even though the police blamed Paul. We found two witnesses as well as the tapes they used in this story from the officer's lapel microphone and from the 911 call. This evidence clearly showed; 1) the boy was speeding and in a rush to get home 2) he admitted the headlights on his truck were heavily oxidized and did not work well, and 3) that he swerved at the last second towards Paul because he saw Paul's car on the other side of the road. Although we secured an excellent recovery from Paul's Uber underinsured motorist insurance, the boy will not face any traffic citation despite the mountain of evidence against him. It's a tragic case and the recovery will at least allow Sheila to take time off work to return to college and finish her studies. Rest in Peace, Paul.
