CHRISTMAS PARADE UPDATE!!! We got confirmation at City Hall yesterday at the end of the work day that the Christmas Parade has been cancelled. Unfortunately we ...did not have enough entries this year because of COVID. Even some who had sent in entry forms early ended up calling to cancel. It’s disappointing because we know how much everyone looks forward to it, but it wouldn’t can have been much of a parade with only two floats and a few motorcycles We are looking forward to it being bigger and better than ever in 2021! Peach Orchard repave began Sunday night Hephzibah - Peach Orchard Road/US 25 is due for a better ride compliments of the $2.06 million resurfacing beginning Sunday. Drivers can expect nightly lane closures as ATC Site Construction moves into the project from State Route 88 to Tobacco Road. General work hours are night hours from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Georgia DOT expects a Sunday night to Friday morning schedule.... The recently rehabilitated railroad crossing may have a slight bump on the approaches. This will be corrected when asphalt goes down throughout the project improvements to level everything.

The deadline for the 2020 Census is September 30th. If you haven't already done so, go to www.my2020census to be counted. The results of the 2020 Census will help determine how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding flow into communities every year for the next decade. That funding shapes many different aspects of every community, no matter the size, no matter the location. Think of your morning commute: Census results influence highway planning and construction,... as well as grants for buses, subways, and other public transit systems. Or think of your local schools: Census results help determine how money is allocated for the Head Start program and for grants that support teachers and special education. The list goes on, including programs to support rural areas, to restore wildlife, to prevent child abuse, to prepare for wildfires, and to provide housing assistance for older adults.
