Last month, the LaGrange City Council passed a resolution asking state officials to study recent methods and trends in the early release of offenders. Work on that front has continued, as the LaGrange Police Department is launching a pilot program with the Georgia State Pardons and Parole Board, according to discussion at Tuesday’s city council meeting. Davis was a longtime music education instructor who served the community in that role for more than four decades. Tasha Brawner, a 13-year-old who lives in LaGrange, is set to be part of the inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts, having completed her requirements and awaiting her board of review in December. Tasha is a member of Troop 31, a Troup County-based, all-female troop established last year and chartered through Loyd Presbyterian Church. After falling to Central-Carroll 3-0 in Friday’s first game, LaGrange lost a 12-10 slug-fest to West Laurens in an elimination game at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus. LaGrange took a 7-3 lead with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, but West Laurens scored 12 runs over the next three innings combined to win the shoot-out.
