Wohoo! We received our medical re-accreditation! We were the first in metro Atlanta to earn this accreditation three years ago thanks to our AMAZING team! Late last year, a surveyor from AAAHC came on site to conduct a survey of our facilities, HR, files, policies, procedures, etc. We were thrilled to receive the formal reaccreditation letter stating we are in great shape and AAAHC Accredited for another three years. So grateful to our entire team and especially Krista Stiefel who kept us organized and on task throughout the reaccreditation process!

So excited to have Anna Claire join our team today! She will work in both our Johns Creek and Decatur locations as a Support Specialist. Anna Claire graduated from UGA in May with a degree in Human Development and Family Sciences. She has some great internship experience and is eager to begin caring for young girls and women in crisis. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome!

An article in Cosmo tells the story of a young woman who decided to have a DIY abortion because the pandemic had limited her access to abortion in Texas. The main point seems to be how hard it was for her to have a painful abortion experience since state restrictions caused her to have the abortion at 10 weeks instead of 8 weeks. Sadly, this article highlights three fundamental problems with abortion. First, the pregnant woman was herself adopted and did not have a good exper...ience with adoption so she knew she would never choose adoption for her baby. Completely understandable. And yet, the irony is that she herself would not have that choice if her mother had made the same decision: to abort her. Secondly, she claims that a friend was not able to get support when raising her child. With WIC, Pregnancy Medicaid and 203 pregnancy centers in Texas, many offering long-term care programs similar to our Bridge Program, that friend's story is hard to understand. In our Bridge Long Term Care program, we provide two years of education and support including the crib, car seat, diapers, wipes, clothes, toys, etc. Our goal is to empower families to transition from crisis to stability so that every baby has a healthy start in life. And many other clinics across the nation, and especially in Texas, offer similar programs. Is it possible that her friend fell through the cracks and didn't access the abundant care that is available to her? Sure. Does that justify the abortion of other pre-born babies? No. Thirdly, this young woman discusses the extra pain she suffered during her abortion because she wated until 10 weeks gestation. But sadly there is no mention of the baby's pain. Was this woman ever informed that some scientific evidence suggests that the fetus could feel pain as early as 10 weeks? Not to mention the fact that scientists agree that human life begins at the moment of fertilization. Does she think that the world should care about her life but she should not care about her baby's life? Do human rights only apply to humans who we want to have in the world? ... Heavenly Father, please guide us today. Please give us grace to grow in love and respect for one another, and to better maintain the union of this great nation.

Grateful for the HUGE space at the Gathering at Decatur Heights. It was perfect for social distancing during our most recent Bridge class. Moms learned about the myths and truth surrounding adoption, thanks to Mary Gray from Lifeline. And families got to enjoy a delicious meal, individually packaged, thanks to the Knights of Columbus from St. Thomas More in Decatur. It was so great to gather safely. The moms learned so much and really enjoyed Mary's presentation.

At 18 days gestation, our heart starts beating. At 7 weeks, our brain waves are detected. At 8 weeks, all of our organs function. At 9 weeks, we have fingerprints. At 10 weeks, we can feel pain. From the moment that the sperm fertilizes the egg, we are human.

This patient came to us for a pregnancy test and was considering abortion. You can imagine how conversations around fetal development and abortion education can be uncomfortable and awkward. Our goal in every appointment is to make sure each patient feels respected and loved while she receives free medical care and evidence-based education. At the end of each appointment, patients have the opportunity to fill out an anonymous exit survey. We read these comments at every staff meeting and board meeting to ensure that our process is working. Our goal is not only to rescue babies from abortion, but to rescue each patient we serve from from the heartbreak that abortion creates. Look at all those DIAPERS!!! WOW! So grateful to the Country Club of the South Charity Guild for organizing this remarkable feat. A wall of diapers that will go to great use! By taking parenting classes, moms in our Bridge Long Term Care program earn "baby bucks" so they can shop in our boutique to purchase diapers and many other essentials for their babies. The goal of this process is to empower Beacon families to transition from crisis to stability through education and practical support.
